Nick is a Division Chief with the City of Salisbury Fire Department in North Carolina. Previously, he served as the Chief of Training for the City of Columbia, South Carolina,and as a Lieutenant with the District of Columbia Fire Department. He has been a longtime member of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George’s County, MD. His career began in 1994 in his hometown of Swarthmore, PA. Since then, he has been privileged to be surrounded by great, motivated firefighters who have taught him everything he knows. Nick’s passion is for firefighting excellence, driven by our uncompromisable responsibility as firefighters for excellent service to our citizens.Nick has had the opportunity to travel the country and share thoughts, learn from others,and see many different ways of firefighting operations. He has presented across NorthAmerica for over 20 years - speaking on hands-on and seminar topics includingfirefighting operations, strategy and tactics, incident command, and leadership. He hasalso been privileged to present at FDIC since 2010.Nick received a BS in Fire Science from the University of Maryland and an MS in PublicSafety Management from Johns Hopkins University. He is also the president andfounder of Combat Ready Fire Training whose mission is to share a duty-first “CombatReady” mentality and real-world fireground proven skills and tactics that are accessibleto all firefighters to help further their mission of saving lives and property.

Frank Viscuso
Matthew Paglione’s fire service journey began in 1994 as a Jr. firefighter with the Hightstown Engine Company in NJ. While earning his AAS in fire science at Colorado Mountain College he worked as a student resident firefighter with the Eagle River Fire Protection District in Avon, CO. In 2001 he returned back east working per-diem with the Robbinsville Fire Department. In August of 2001 Matthew began his tenure with the FDNY as an EMT and was sworn in as a New York City firefighter in 2003. Matthew is currently assigned to 27 Truck in the Bronx and is an instructor for On-Scene Training and FAST Rescue Solutions. An outdoor enthusiast, avid hockey player, and board member of the What Exit Fools, he believes that preparation directly affects performance.

Matthew Paglione

Dan MacAuley began his fire service career as a call firefighter on Nantucket, MA and volunteered with the Christiana Fire Company in Delaware. In 2012 he joined the Boston Fire Fire Department and was assigned to Ladder Co.6 in the Dorchester section of the city. He has taught at FDIC, Makin’ The Stretch, CT Fire Conference as well as many local FOOLS events. Dan is also a Rescue Specialist with MATF-1 as well as a member of the New England FOOLS. He is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard
Dan MacAuley
ANTHONY AVILLO, M.S., with 40 years in the fire service, retired as deputy chief of North Hudson (NJ) Regional Fire & Rescue after 30 years of service. As an urban fireground commander, Avillo commanded fire and emergency operations in the most congested cities in the United States. He is the author of Fireground Strategies, 4th ed. (2025), and coauthor of Full
Contact Leadership (2017). Avillo is a former Region 3 Director of the ISFSI and retired Director of the Monmouth County (NJ) Fire Academy. He is a member of the Fire Engineering / FDIC Editorial Advisory Board and was the recipient of the 2012 IFSFI George D. Post Instructor of the Year Award. He has a B.S. degree in fire science and an M.S. degree in national
security studies. Avillo is a level II NJ Certified Fire Instructor. Avillo also speaks around the United States and Canada on such topics as Command and Control, Leadership, Building Construction, Fireground Strategies and Tactics, and Operational Safety.

Anthony Avillo

Daniel “Chunk” Nelms is a second-generation fireman, currently working in the Nashville (TN) F.D., where he is currently assigned to 25 Truck on the Northside of the city. Chunk has also served as a volunteer in various departments since his childhood, from Rookie up to Training Officer. Chunk brings 20 years of fire service experience from small town volunteer fire departments to a large urban metropolitan FD, and anything in between. Chunk has instructed at conferences and fire departments across the country and has been published in a few fire service trade magazines. Chunk’s passion for the job is only surpassed by the love for God and his family. Chunk is a proud Christian, husband (Emily) and father (Jackson, Noah, and Baby Girl).

Brian Edwards is an 18 year student deeply immersed in the craft, with a solid foundation in heavy-duty truck and equipment repair. He offers a comprehensive class that covers key topics such as: The WHY, wheelmanship, human performance, knowing your rig, shop talk, water supply, positioning vs. Parking, building construction, building connections, Operating in adverse weather conditions, lone wolf tactics, and driver training.

Robert Seeburger Jr.
Robert Seeburger Jr. has dedicated over 32 years to the fire service industry. He is a retired Battalion Fire Chief from the Bayonne Fire Department in Hudson County. His career commenced in 1992, with promotions to Lieutenant in 2000, Captain in 2005, and Battalion
Chief in 2010, making him one of the youngest Chief Officers in the department’s history. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in various capacities including Engine,
Truck, HazMat, and Rescue Companies. He concluded his tenure as Chief of Operations and Special Operations, responsible for overseeing all Special Operations Companies for more than
a decade. Previously, he served as a tour commander for five years. He holds numerous certifications such as New Jersey Level 2 Instructor, NFPA Rope Rescue Technician Instructor, UASI Task Force Member, and has served as Chairman of the Metro Urban Search and Rescue Executive Committee for eight years, responding to a variety of technical rescue incidents. Over the course of his career, Mr. Seeburger has received multiple commendations in recognition of
his bravery. For the past nine years, Mr. Robert has held the position of partner at Superior Fire & Emergency Training LLC, an organization that delivers emergency response training across the tri-state region. In 2025, Mr. Robert founded Halex Consulting, a consulting firm specializing in emergency services. The firm provides support to various departments and industries in the domains of Safety, Compliance, and Exercise Planning.
Robert Disbrow has cultivated a distinguished career spanning over 36 years within the Fire Service, encompassing roles in Career, Volunteer, and Federal Departments. Mr. Disbrow is a retired Fire Captain from the City of Bayonne Fire Department, where he commanded Squad Company 5 under the city's Special Operations Command. He also served as a member of the UASI Northern Region USAR Team, responding to numerous technical rescue incidents. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and possesses certifications as a New Jersey Level 2 Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector, and Fire Officer 2. Mr. Disbrow is recognized as a subject matter expert in Fire Investigation, holding the IAAI-Certified Fire Investigation Certification, and currently conducts investigations across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the five boroughs of New York City. Furthermore, he demonstrates extensive expertise in Engine Company Operations, Rescue Company Operations, and Special Operations. He has authored multiple articles on fire investigation for firehouse.com. Over nine years ago, he co-founded Superior Fire & Emergency Response Training, an organization dedicated to providing instruction to various departments throughout the tri-state area. Additionally, Mr. Disbrow serves as a District Fire Warden for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and functions as an Adjunct Professor in the Fire Science program at Middlesex County College.

Robert Disbrow

Mike is a Career Firefighter/EMT(I) in Westampton Township, New Jersey. Along with performing duties that range from Squad and Truck Company operations to EMS, he coordinates the training for the Department. In addition, he works as a Deputy District Fire Warden for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. He is a Past Chief and Life Member of the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company and EMS, where he started as a Junior Firefighter in 1998, and continues to be an active fireman after serving 14 years as an operational Officer. His passion for providing high-quality service and his desire to share knowledge has led to developing and presenting several training programs held at various Fire Departments in New Jersey, as well as the Ocean County Fire Academy. Additionally, he has authored training articles for Fire Engineering Magazine and Firehouse.com.
Michael P. Wolfschmidt
Chad is a dedicated fire service professional with over three decades of experience, beginning his journey as a Junior firefighter in 1994 with the Good Will Fire Company in Pemberton, NJ. His unwavering commitment to public safety and community service quickly propelled him
through the ranks, and he has proudly served as the Fire Chief of the Good Will Fire Company since 2004. In addition to his firefighting career, Chad has made significant contributions as a Police Officer
and K9 Officer, further showcasing his dedication to protecting and serving the community. His expertise extends beyond local firefighting, as he currently serves as a District Fire Warden for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, assigned to B-23, where he plays a crucial role in managing forest fire risks. Since 2012, Chad has been a valued member of the Westampton Township Emergency Services, where he currently holds the rank of Captain. His leadership and experience continue to inspire those around him, making a positive impact on his team and the community. Additionally, Chad is a New Jersey Level II Fire Instructor, sharing his knowledge and skills with the next generation of firefighters.
Outside of his professional commitments, Chad cherishes spending quality time with his girlfriend Deb and her daughter. He is also a proud father to a son and daughter and enjoys being a grandfather to three grandchildren, who bring joy and fulfillment to his life. Chad's
balance of family and service exemplifies his dedication to both his profession and loved ones, making him a respected figure in his community.

Chad Bozoski

Brian Butler
Josh Jamison has served in the fire service since 2007 and currently works with West Windsor Fire & Emergency Services, where he has spent the past decade responding to a wide range of emergency incidents. In addition to his operational role, Josh is an instructor with All Hands Fire Equipment & Training and the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center, where he teaches on various fire and rescue disciplines. Josh also serves as a Fire Investigator in the private sector and holds dual certifications as a Technical Search Specialist and Hazardous Materials Specialist with New Jersey Task Force 1. His areas of expertise include engine company operations, hazardous materials response and mitigation, fire prevention, and search and rescue. Josh brings a comprehensive and field-tested perspective to fire service training, blending instructional experience with real-world response knowledge.

Josh Jamison

Joseph Paolo is a Retired Career Captain/Fire Marshal with the Plumsted Township Fire District #1. He has over 30 plus years of experience in the fire service and 20 plus years of experience in Fire Investigations. He started his Fire Investigation experience as a heavy equipment operator with the Ocean County Arson Task Force. He also worked for the State of New Jersey at the Division of Fire Safety Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Ocean County Fire Marshals Office before creating the Fire Marshals Office in Plumsted Township. He is a certified International Association of Arson Investigators CFI with a Motor Vehicle Indorsement, Fire Investigation Technician, a Certified Instructor, and an Evidence Collection Technician. He also holds his CFEI from the National Association of Fire Investigators.
Joe Paolo
Caleb joined the fire service in 1999 and has worked for combination and career fire departments covering a range of response areas. He currently serves with the Northampton Fire Rescue Department (MA) where he holds the rank of Captain. His areas of focus in the fire service include engine company operations & water supply, fireground tactics and fire apparatus design, topics he has written on for Fire Engineering Magazine. Caleb is the owner of Langer Fire Training & Consulting, and consults on water delivery topics for Mercedes Textiles. He is rooted in a mission-oriented approach, dedicated to improving operational effectiveness. Caleb lives in Massachusetts with his wife and three children, and in his free time enjoys outdoor activities year-round.

Mike Daley
Captain MIKE DALEY has spent over 38 years in the fire service and has held many officer positions in both career and volunteer fire departments. He served as a Captain and Training Officer with Monroe Township Fire District #3 and is an Instructor with the Middlesex County Fire Academy, as well as the Monmouth County Fire Academy. Mike has served as a Rescue Officer with the New Jersey Task Force 1 – Urban Search and Rescue team for 22 years and is a FEMA Lead Instructor for the Structural Collapse Rescue Program for USAR team members. Furthermore, he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Fire Science Programs at Middlesex College and Union College and is a Craftsman with Project Kill the Flashover.
Captain Daley holds certifications in various competencies, such as Rescue Technician, Incident Safety Officer, Hazardous Materials Specialist and On-Scene Incident Commander, Fire Officer, All-Hazards Operations Section Chief, EMT, Level II Fire Instructor, Drill Ground Instructor, Fire Inspector, Fire Official, Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and is a National Fire Academy Alumni. Captain Daley has earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety Administration with Honors and is a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter of the National Honor Society.
Captain Daley became the Nation’s first credentialed MASTER FIRE INSTRUCTOR by the International Society of Fire Service Instructors and has earned the FIRE OFFICER and the CHIEF TRAINING OFFICER Accreditations by the Center for Public Service Excellence.
Mike is also the Founder and Managing Member for Fire Service Performance Concepts, a consultant group that aids and supports fire departments who want assistance with their training divisions, in-house course development and procedural guidance. Additionally, he has been a presenter at numerous national fire service venues, including FDIC, Firehouse World, and Firehouse Expo and is the author of the FIRE STUDIES column for Firehouse Magazine and www.firehouse.com
Chad began in the fire service in 2001 with the Sea Bright Fire Rescue where he rose through the ranks becoming Chief of Department in 2011.
Throughout his tenure as Chief, he progressed the department by implementing modern day policies and procedures and has established a well structured volunteer program. He is part of the Fire Engineering FDIC Instructing Cadre and was featured on multiple Fire Engineering Training Minutes.
