“WATER SUPPLY TO SUPPORT FIRE ATTACK”

A FASTER, MORE AGILE AND EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO WATER SUPPLY. EXISTING PRACTICES ARE OFTEN BLUNT, ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL APPROACHES WHICH MAY DELAY FIREGROUND OPERATIONS WHILE PROVIDING MORE WATER THAN NECESSARY FOR ROUTINE FIRES, BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR MAJOR INCIDENTS. THIS CLASS WILL FOCUS ON THE OBJECTIVE OF WATER SUPPLY: TO SUPPORT FIRE ATTACK. THIS WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A PACKAGE-BASED APPROACH, USING A SYSTEM THAT IS AGILE AND SCALABLE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE INCIDENT. PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN THE CAPABILITIES OF VARIOUS SIZES OF SUPPLY HOSE, DUAL SUPPLY LINES AND 4-WAY HYDRANT VALVES, HEAVY HOOKUPS AND HYDRANT OPERATIONS, REVERSE SUPPLY LAYS, BACKSTRETCHES AND HAND STRETCHES. STUDENTS WILL GAIN INSIGHT INTO HOW THESE PRACTICES CAN BE UTILIZED IN A MANNER THAT IS BEST MATCHED TO THEIR OWN DEPARTMENTS AND RESPONSE AREAS, AND COME AWAY WITH A PRACTICAL UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO OPTIMIZE THEIR WATER SUPPLY WHILE SPEEDING FIRE ATTACK.

 

“MAN VS MACHINE RESCUE”

THIS CLASS MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA 1006/1670 FOR THE MACHINERY OPERATIONS LEVEL, UTILIZING VARIOUS METHODS OF EXTRICATION, CUTTING AND DISENTANGLEMENT FOR MACHINERY ENTRAPMENTS. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO HANDS ON PRACTICE WITH SCENARIOS SUCH AS IMPALEMENTS, EXTREMITY ENTRAPMENTS, RINGS/OBJECTS STUCK ON BODY PARTS, PATIENTS STUCK IN A CHILD SWING, ETC.

“ADVANCED OPEN WATER RESCUE & DROWNING RESUSCITATION”

SUCCESSFUL DROWNING RESCUE DEPENDS ON RAPID WATER RESCUE AND HIGHPERFORMANCE RESUSCITATION WITHIN 300 SECONDS. THIS SKILLS INTENSIVE COURSE IS FOR FIRE RESCUE PERSONNEL, ESPECIALLY THOSE ON WATER RESCUE OR DIVE TEAMS. IT FOCUSES ON ADVANCED RESCUE SKILLS TAUGHT BY EXPERIENCED SPECIALISTS IN A DEEP-WATER POOL. STUDENTS ALSO TRAIN FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE DROWNING RESUSCITATION AND ARE EVALUATED ON THEIR ABILITY TO PERFORM WITHIN 300 SECONDS.⁠

“HEAVY LIFT & UNDERRIDES”

THIS HANDS ON TRAINING FOCUSES ON THE MANAGEMENT AND RESPONSE TECHNIQUES FOR REAR AND SIDE UNDERRIDE INCIDENTS. STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO SAFELY LIFT, STABILIZE, AND REMOVE VEHICLES INVOLVED IN UNDERRIDES WHILE ENSURING THE SAFETY OF BOTH RESCUERS AND VICTIMS. THE COURSE ALSO PROVIDES HANDS-ON TRAINING IN VEHICLE EXTRICATION METHODS SPECIFIC TO UNDERRIDE SITUATIONS, EMPHASIZING PROPER TOOL USAGE, COORDINATION, AND TACTICAL DECISION-MAKING TO ACHIEVE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE RESCUES.

“TACTICAL THERMAL IMAGING FOR FIREGROUND DECISION-MAKING”

FIREFIGHTERS, FIRE OFFICERS, FIRE INSTRUCTORS, AND FIRE INVESTIGATORS ALL SHARE ONE COMMON CHARACTERISTIC: THE NEED FOR A STRONG COMPETENCY IN FIRE BEHAVIOR. WHEN IT COMES TO FIRE BEHAVIOR, MODERN FUELS AND BUILDING CONSTRUCTION CONSIDERATIONS ARE TWO CONCERNS WHEN DEVELOPING AN ACTION PLAN FOR SUPPRESSION, BASED UPON THE CLUES ON
SCENE. IDENTIFYING THESE CLUES REQUIRES THE USE OF THERMAL IMAGERS (TI). THE RISKS THAT ARE PRESENT DURING SUPPRESSION OPERATIONS, AS WELL AS FIREFIGHTER TRAINING APPLICATIONS, THAT ARE NOT IDENTIFIED EARLY IN THE OPERATION CAN RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC INJURIES TO FIREFIGHTERS. NFPA 1010 (2024 EDITIONS, WHICH INCLUDES NFPA 1001) REQUIRES THAT ALL FIRE
SERVICE MEMBERS SHOW COMPETENCY IN AREAS INCLUDING OPERATING A TIC SO THAT VICTIMS ARE IDENTIFIED IN CONDITIONS OF OBSCURED VISIBILITY AS WELL AS THERMAL ENERGY WITHIN A STRUCTURE DURING SUPPRESSION, EXTINGUISHMENT AND OVERHAUL, AND LIQUID LEVELS IN CONTAINERS DURING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENTS. FURTHERMORE, AS INSTRUCTORS PROVIDE DIRECTION AND TRAINING FOR RECRUITS IN HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY, THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL NEED FOR INSTRUCTORS TO HAVE COMPETENCY IN UTILIZING THE TI TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THE RECRUIT AS WELL AS MONITORING THE ENVIRONMENT THE TRAINING IS BEING CONDUCTED IN. THIS COURSE HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO PROVIDE THE KNOWLEDGE TO THE ATTENDEES TO UTILIZE EXISTING TECHNOLOGY ON-SCENE SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY.

OUR HANDS-ON FORCIBLE ENTRY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS WHILE ADVANCING STUDENTS' PROFICIENCY THROUGH PROGRESSIVE INSTRUCTION. FOLLOWING A CRAWL-WALK-RUN APPROACH, PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN AND PRACTICE PROVEN TECHNIQUES, ALONG WITH REAL-WORLD TIPS, TO ENHANCE THEIR EFFECTIVENESS ON THE FIREGROUND.
